FAQs
Pricing
-
Based on the suffragette sounding call, “I want bread and roses too” my pricing is guided by the scope of the project, my extensive experience in the field and the industry standards listed in Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines. With that being said, most projects start at a baseline of $750.

I totally hear you. Spending money can be super duper scary but whether we like it or not folks judge a book by its cover. You’ve worked hard to write and imagine this masterpiece, let’s celebrate (and SELL!) your publication with a smart and engaging design.
-
Yep, sure do. To secure your spot on the design schedule, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit. From there, we can splice out the project into milestone payments. Final deliverables will be transferred to you once the final invoice is paid in full.
-
Easy peasy! Connected through Honeybook, you can pay with any major credit card.
Process
-
Book cover designs can take a couple of weeks while larger projects like magazines and communication collateral can take a few months. We will work together to figure out the custom timeline along with milestone design due dates.
-
I can send all agreed upon deliverables via Dropbox after the final invoice is paid in full.
-
Pending on the contract and work-for-hire status, I only send flattened files.
For those that are interested in the native files, I can provide for the industry standard of a 200% markup of the project quote. This is to protect my IP. I liken it to when you go into a bakery and buy the cupcake (your flattened PDF) and not the baker’s recipe to the cupcake (the native files).
Should you choose to purchase the native files, please note that I am not legally allowed to send the original files for typefaces and stock images along with the packaged native files. This is due to the TOS from the original type foundries or image sites. I will, however, send links to purchase the typefaces and stock photos directly from source.
-
Great question! Many of my designs are sourced from stock sites and public domain images; however, if you’re after a super specific image (i.e. I want a gangly red-haired teenager wearing a purple striped shirt and yellow converse shoes while riding a giant blue mockingbird across the top-side of the Golden Gate bridge) you’ll likely need to fold in an illustrator or photographer to create the custom image your after. If hiring and managing another creative seems overwhelming, I can help facilitate and art direct that creative process and bring image and type together to create the physical print design.
-
You’ll need to supply a completely edited and typo-free copy document. Please review all proofs with a fine tooth comb. Once you sign off on the final proofs, I am no longer responsible for uh-ohs.
-
Most projects call for 2 initial concepts and 2 rounds of revisions. While rare, should you request additional rounds of edits, I’ll work at my hourly rate and bill on the final invoice. On some large publications that require quick communication, we can discuss day rates to accommodate the amount of revisions.
General Q’s
-
Want a mural done on your store front? Have an idea about printing a pattern on fabric? Or do you have something really wacky in mind? I’m all ears, let’s talk.
-
Once the contract is signed and the deposit is paid, I’ll send over a detailed questionnaire that will ask you loads of questions from printing sizes, to themes to what you do and don’t like. No stone will go unturned here.
You’ve now read the common FAQs, you’ve reviewed the services, you’ve got your ducks mostly in a row and you’ve got a genius word doc that is just begging for some beauty. I can’t wait to make your publication shine!
